"Love all, trust a few,
do wrong to none"
 All's Well, Act i, Sc.1
---William Shakespeare

This course for high school seniors emphasizes British literature and its major literary periods. We begin with the long epic poem Beowulf, followed by Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and several pieces from Arthurian legend. Next is the reading of Shakespeare's MacBeth. Other major topics are Romantic and Victorian poets. Depending on students' prior reading experiences, several novels will also be studied.

Students can expect to continue honing their writing abilities, with a major focus on literary analysis. Projects will also provide the class with opportunities to develop computer and research skills.
