Homework

Everyone remembers homework as:
an opportunity to complete projects without the time restrictions of the school day.
or as,
a punishment, wasting precious play time.
or as
a help.
Parents, too, are of different minds concerning homework. As it is the perfect chance to monitor their child's progress, but at times it interferes with family activities.

Truth is, homework is a valuable part of a child's education as it:
•extends learning beyond the classroom
•teaches a child to organize time and materials, work independently, use good study skills, and develop self-discipline
•serves as the link between school and home.

So - for the sake of a child's success it is important that the parent get involved in homework by:
–Looking for homework everyday.
–Providing a study area.
–Planning a specific time.
–Thinking of homework as "helpwork".
–Watching for signs that help is needed.
–Calling the teacher as problems arise.

The more teachers and parents work together, the more we help our children.
