Extra Credit
If you have no "0" grades, you are eligible to do extra credit. Below are some assignments that are always accepted for Extra Credit. Below that, you will find instructions on how to write up certain types of assignments. Extra Credit assignments will not be graded if they are not submitted in the correct format.
Assignments that are eligible for Extra Credit:
- Skill Sheets provided in class for extra credit.
- Other assignments noted in class for extra credit.
- Learning and informational channel shows that are directly related to our studies in class. (Discovery Channel, History Channel, Learning Channel, Travel Channel, PBS, etc.)
- Museum visits that directly relate to our studies in class.
- Family vacations with visits to locations that directly relate to our studies in class.
- Historical videos or cinema productions related to our studies in class.
- Theatre productions related to our studies in class.
- You may propose an assignment that relates to class.
How to write up your assignments:
All assignments: Make a heading in the upper right hand corner that includes: Your name, Extra Credit, and the date.
Skill sheets do not need a write-up -- just do the assignment as instructed on the sheet. You must attempt all problems on the sheet. You will receive credit for all answers that are correct.
All other assignments need to be written up as follows:
- Introductory paragraph (3-5 sentences making a point about the assignment and how it relates to class)
- At least 2 supporting paragraphs that give specific examples that relate to our studies for class. DO NOT simply recount the action of the show or production. DO NOT tell me about your trip or museum visit. Actually choose 2 or more scenes or exhibits that relate to class and tell me what you learned about them.
- Concluding paragraph (3-5 sentences that summarize why what you learned was important).
If we agree on an assignment you have proposed, or if you have circumstances that limit your writing abilities, visit with me about other arrangements for extra credit assignments.
