I believe...
Children:
are individuals with unique characteristics, interests, abilities, and needs
have the right to be educated in a nonthreatening environment
will be as enthusiastic about learning as the teacher is about teaching
should feel success in all aspects of school life
Learning is enhanced:
in a risk free, relaxed environment
in an atmosphere where learning experiences match individual differences
when studnets know why they are learning
when teacher maintain high expectations
in an atmosphere where studnets enjoy each other's company and their accomplishments
Teachers:
should discipline with the ultimate goal of discipline as self-discipline and independence
primary role is a facilitator of learning
teach by modeling appropriate behaviors<=br>
need to be enthusiastic, confident, and optimistic
need to get students excited aboutlearning
should be effective classroom managers
need to be well educated and intelligent
should provide a safe environment
continue professional growth
