Study skills/Test-taking strategies:

Posted by Jane Lewis, 5/28/03 at 12:43:08 PM.

Third grade is a big step for your child. Textbooks become more of a student resource guide. Because of this, here are a few strategies to help your third grade student with developing study skills and taking tests.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE A TEST

  • Know when the test is to be given
  • Study at the same time every day
  • Get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast

THINGS TO DO DURING A TEST
  • Read all the directions and preview the test before you begin
  • Answer the questions you know first
  • Go back to answer the ones you are unsure of
  • Review your answers before turning in your test
