This is a federal law which says schools must not
discriminate on the basis of sex in educational programs and
activities. The law states in part that:
"No person in the U.S. shall on the
basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits
of, or
be subjected to
discrimination under any education program or activity receiving
federal financial assistance."
This law covers students as well as all employees of
the district. Anyone wishing to file a grievance shall contact
the Superintendent. Grievances should be filed in writing.
Within 10 working days after the complaint is received the person
filing the complaint will receive an answer in writing. A copy of
the complaint and the answer will be sent to each board member.
If the complainant is not satisfied with the response, he or she may
submit a written appeal to the Board of Education.
The board will then consider the appeal at its next regularly scheduled meeting.
