Standards of Student Conduct |
|
Compliance with the standards of conduct is
mandatory. The following standards are set forth in the laws of
this state and others are rules or regulations designed to enhance the
operation of the school and the interaction between people.
1) Student conduct is expected to reflect
consideration for the personal and property rights of others and should
reflect an understanding of the need for cooperation among members of
our school community.
2) The following is a list of some (but not all) of
the school and activity-related offenses that are punishable by the
administrator:
a. Destruction of our school property or of schools visited.
b. Theft of any article taken from our school or schools visited.
c. Fighting.
d. Drinking at any school activity or being under the influence.
e. Obscene gestures while under school supervision.
f. Any
unethical, immoral, or illegal behavior on school property or while
under the school‚s supervision.
3) Students may be withheld from participating or
attending activities by the administrator should he/she not show good
citizenship while in attendance at school and/or prior to beginning an
activity. (ex. - sports, field trips, class parties)
4) The following is a listing of infractions that may
occur. Infractions are subject to loss of recess, discipline
notice, detention, suspension/expulsion, or restitution of property
damaged. Many disciplinary decision factors, such as a student‚s
prior record, the degree of severity of the infraction, the
circumstances of the situation, the effect or danger to persons or
property, are taken into consideration when dealing with these
infractions. Each infraction and student will be handled
individually. This list is a sampling of possible infractions,
and other cases may be dealt with in a similar manner.

Each student will be given every opportunity to
conform to school regulations concerning dismissal from classes.
Teachers will attempt to see to it that each student is given a fair
chance and that disciplinary action is not a spur of the moment
decision based on temporary irritation or flare of anger.
Whenever a teacher feels he/she has exhausted every reasonable approach
to helping a student correct unacceptable behavior with no noticeable
improvements, the teacher may send the student to the administrator‚s
office.
