Atkinson Elementary/Jr. High Administrator

Tardiness

 Elem. Tardiness:
Those students arriving late to school will be counted as tardy.  Parents will be notified immediately following the third cumulative tardy.  Excessive tardies will be handled as unexcused absences determined by hourly equivalent.

J.H. Tardiness:
Tardiness, unless a staff member detains a student, is defined as any unexcused appearance of a student beyond the scheduled time that a class begins.  Students at Atkinson Junior High School have a 2 1/2-minute passing period making most reasons for tardiness inexcusable.

The office does not deal with tardiness to classes.  The pupil is not to come to the office for a tardy pass once the school day has begun.  Teachers are responsible for tardiness to their classes.
(Teachers will refer students to the administrator's office for excessive tardies.)

Repeated tardiness to classes are to be reported to the office by classroom teachers, which may result in the assignment of detentions as a corrective measure.  STUDENTS WHO HAVE EXCEEDED THREE TARDIES WILL SERVE ONE CLASS II DETENTION FOR EACH TARDY THEREAFTER.

Teachers who detain a student from reporting to class on time are expected to provide a note for the student to enter his/her class.  Teachers will honor other staff members' passes.
