Parents who have children in the Atkinson Elementary and Junior High School are reminded of the school's procedure for notifying them of late starts or school closing because of inclement weather.  Announcements will be made over radio station KBRX, O'Neill and KOLN-KGIN Lincoln/Grand Island.  KBRX is the primary source for weather related announcements and parents are urged to tune to this station during the early morning hours between 6:00 and 8:00.  The administrator of Atkinson Elementary/Junior High will call KBRX as early as possible to have them announce any late starts or school closings.

     Parents are asked never to leave their children off at school and drive away without waiting to make sure the buildings are open and that there is school.  There have been incidents, even though there were no cars at school and no lights on, when parents have left their children off and then drove off leaving the children stranded outside in severe cold.
