Atkinson Elementary/Jr. High Administrator

Academic Awards

The Atkinson Elementary/Junior High School Board of Education, administration and faculty recognize the importance of encouraging academic achievement and excellence.  The primary focus of this school will always be on the academic program.  All other areas of the total program will be viewed as complimenting academics.
Performance in all subjects will be considered when determining the All A, A and B Honor Rolls.  Unsatisfactory performance and failure in each subject area will determine those ineligible for activities.

All A Honor Roll
To qualify for the Junior High All A Honor Roll, a student must achieve a 94 or above average in all subjects applicable to the honor roll at the end of each semester.  An award will be given to those students who achieve a 94 or above in all subjects for both 1st and 2nd semester.
* Grades 3-5 will follow the same criteria as above quarterly.

A Honor Roll
Must have an accumulative average in all subjects of 94 or above with no grade lower than a 90.  An award will be given to those students who achieve the A Honor Roll both semesters.
* Grades 3-5 will follow the same criteria as above quarterly.
(J.H.) Arts classes that are averaged together must not have any one grade lower than a 90%.

B Honor Roll
Must have an accumulative average in all subjects of 86 or above with no grade lower than an 82.  An award will be given to those students who achieve the B Honor Roll both semesters.
* Grades 3-5 will follow the same criteria as above quarterly.
(J.H.) Arts classes that are averaged together must not have any one grade lower than an 82%.

Jr. High Achievement Award
Any student who improves his/her average in any subject by at least 6 points from the previous grading period or 9 weeks, will earn an Achievement Award.  This refers to the grading period for the current school year only.  For example, if a student has an average of 74 in Math at the end of the 1st nine weeks, that student can earn an Achievement Award as soon as he/she raises that average to an 80 or above at the end of any 9 week grading period.  Honor Roll and Achievement Awards will be presented at the end of each semester at an Awards Convocation.
All students are eligible for Honor Roll & Achievement Awards.
