2005 SEASON
The Plainview Public School's 2005 Speech Team had a very successful season. They competed at 7 speech meets, including Conference and Districts, which they won for the fifth straight year.
In districts, everyone competed well, but unfortunately, only the top two in each event qualify for state. State qualifiers are Melissa Dohmen and Nicole Wells in informative, Harrison Lingenfelter and Blake Mosel in entertainment, Luke Lingenfelter in persuasive, Aaron Christiansen in Humorous Prose, and Taylor Christiansen, Tom Johnson, Harrison Lingenfelter, Blake Mosel, and Aaron Christiansen in OID.
Medaling at districts , but not qualifying for State, were Ashton North in Persuasive, Steve Peterson in Extemporaneous, Tom Johnson in Poetry, and the duet of Jessica Doerr and Nicole Wells.
"It was a thrilling experience to take home championship trophies in both Conference and District Competition. However, I also continue to emphasize that I hope our success is never measured by medals alone. I like to think that the confidence these kids gain and the poise they display are worth much, much more than any trophy or medal," commented Coach Schindler
State speech will be held Thursday, March 17 in Kearney.
